The suction grate for the AS 271 main drain is a replacement safety element from the manufacturer Astral that protects the suction pipe from the ingress of leaves, toys and other objects. Without a functional grate, there is a risk of pipe clogging as well as a risk of a bather becoming trapped.
The original grate is designed to comply with the applicable safety standards for opening areas and to minimise the risk of suction entrapment. The precise dimensions and the mounting system ensure a correct fit on the AS 271 drain with no gaps.
The ABS material is resistant to chlorinated water, UV radiation and mechanical impacts. We recommend carrying out the replacement immediately upon detecting a crack or deformation of the existing grate.
