The 12 µF starting capacitor for the ESPA Niper 2-450 pump is an electrical component essential for creating the phase shift during start-up of the single-phase asynchronous motor.
Without a functioning capacitor, the motor does not gain sufficient torque at start-up – the pump buzzes but does not spin up, or starts slowly with the risk of overload.
A faulty capacitor is one of the most common and most easily repairable electrical faults in pool pumps.
Replacement requires disconnecting the power supply, loosening the capacitor cover on the motor block and reconnecting the two conductors to a new capacitor of the correct capacitance.
The original ESPA part for the Niper 2-450 has a capacitance of exactly 12 µF and voltage parameters corresponding to the design of this model.
