The seal under the flange collar ESPA Tifon is a small but critically important part that prevents water from escaping the hydraulic circuit of the pump. The seal is compressed between the flange collar and the seating surface of the pump body when the union nut is tightened.
The seal material resists the chemical environment of pool water, chlorine and the temperatures of normal pump operation. Ageing or over-tightening of the nut can deform the seal and cause subsequent leakage.
Replacing the seal is the quickest and cheapest way to eliminate a leak in the pump port area. For a lasting result, we recommend using an original part of the correct size for the Tifon.
