The ESPA Tifon pump basket is a pre-filter element located in the lid of the pump’s pre-filter chamber. It captures leaves, insects, fibrous debris and other coarse particles that would damage the impeller or clog the piping.
The original part ensures correct flow through the pre-filter and prevents larger debris from passing further into the pump. The material resistant to chlorine and pool chemicals retains its shape even after seasons of regular operation.
Cleaning of the basket should be done at least once a week or when the pump flow drops. A full or cracked basket must be cleaned or replaced immediately to prevent cavitation and a shortening of the pump’s service life.
