The replacement glass sleeve (quartz tube) is an essential component of a UV sterilizer that separates the UV lamp from the flowing water while transmitting UV radiation with minimal losses. A cracked or clouded sleeve significantly reduces the sterilization efficiency of the system.
The sleeve is made of clear quartz glass with high transmission in the UV-C band (254 nm), where the germicidal effect of the radiation is at its maximum. Compared to ordinary glass, quartz glass offers significantly higher resistance to thermal shock and UV degradation.
Replace the sleeve carefully – quartz glass is fragile and sensitive to grease from the skin. When handling it, wear cotton gloves so that no fingerprints settle on the surface, as these would reduce radiation transmission. Verify the dimensions for your specific UV sterilizer model.
