The 60 µF starting capacitor for the ESPA Tifon pump is a higher capacitance corresponding to the more powerful single-phase motor compared to the smaller models of the Niper range (12 µF).
The capacitor creates the phase shift needed for motor start-up – without it, the motor does not reach starting torque and remains stationary or spins up slowly with the risk of the thermal cut-out tripping.
A faulty capacitor manifests itself as a characteristic humming, an inability to start, or a shutdown a short time after starting.
Replacement requires disconnecting the power supply, accessing the capacitor compartment on the motor and reconnecting the supply conductors to the new capacitor.
The original ESPA part for the Tifon with a capacitance of 60 µF corresponds to the voltage and power parameters of this model and guarantees reliable start-up even under difficult conditions.
