The capacitor is an electrical starting element of the single-phase motor of the ESPA IRIS 400M pump, without which the motor cannot be reliably started or kept running.
A capacitor fault typically manifests itself in the pump motor buzzing but not spinning up, or overheating and tripping the thermal fuse.
Replacing the capacitor with a new part of the correct capacitance tends to be the quickest and cheapest repair for a motor fault of the pump.
The original ESPA capacitor has a precise capacitance dimensioned for the IRIS 400M model motor and ensures optimal starting torque even at lower mains voltage.
