The drain plug is part of the pre-filter chamber of the Victoria pump and is used to drain the residual water from the bottom of the pump. It is an essential part for correct winterising, where it is necessary to remove all water from the pump to prevent frost damage.
The plug is made of durable plastic with a sealing O-ring that prevents dripping during pump operation. Disassembly only requires a screwdriver or a special key; the plug is unscrewed, the water drains out and the plug is screwed back in.
If the plug is lost or damaged, there is a risk of water leaking from the bottom of the pump even during operation. We recommend keeping a spare plug available, particularly during the season, so that the pump can be put back into operation immediately.
