The UV-C TECH sterilizer 40W is used to disinfect pool water by ultraviolet radiation.
Principle of UV disinfection
Disinfection by UV radiation is an increasingly used technology for treating both drinking and pool water. The principle consists in the photochemical damage of RNA, DNA, proteins, enzymes and other biologically significant macromolecules. Its effectiveness depends on the radiation dose, the type of lamp and its arrangement relative to the direction of the water flow. Low-pressure monochromatic UV lamps emit radiation with a wavelength of 254 nm and have germicidal effects – destroying algae, parasites, mold, viruses, yeasts and bacteria.
Combining UV with other technologies brings high water quality, lower operating costs and chemical savings. UV radiation alone cannot be used for hygienic protection (risk of secondary contamination), which is why in practice it is combined, for example, with chlorination.
