The winter expansion float is an essential part of properly winterising a pool. When the temperature drops below freezing point, the water on the surface turns into ice, which exerts pressure on the pool walls – thanks to its ability to deform easily, the float absorbs this pressure and protects the shell against cracking.
The 0.4 m long floats are always positioned along the line of the longest dimension of the pool: for rectangular and square pools along the diagonal, for oval pools along the axis running through the longest dimension, for round pools across the diameter. For irregular shapes, divide the pool into geometric segments and place the floats according to these principles.
Correct placement of the floats significantly reduces the risk of costly repairs caused by frost. We recommend installing the floats every year before winter and checking their condition after the ice has thawed. Suitable for all types of pools – foil, laminate and concrete.
