AFM Grade 2 activated filter media, grain size 1.0–2.0 mm, 21 kg

AFM Grade 2 with a grain size of 1.0–2.0 mm is a coarser class of activated filter media applied as the lower supporting layer beneath the finer Grade 1, or on its own in systems with higher flow rates. The combination of both grain sizes creates an optimal filter bed for maximum capture of impurities.

The electrochemically activated glass surface prevents the attachment of biofilm and bacteria inside the filter vessel, thereby eliminating the biological fouling that progressively reduces the filtration performance of conventional sand.

The media is chemically inert, does not undergo degradation or grain fusion, and therefore maintains a stable hydraulic resistance throughout its operating life. Backwashing is shorter and uses 50 % less water than with traditional sand.

The 21 kg pack is suitable for medium-sized filter vessels. The media can be installed into any existing vessel with a distributor without any changes.
