AFM Grade 1 activated filter media, grain size 0.4–1.0 mm, 21 kg

AFM (Activated Filter Media) Grade 1 with a grain size of 0.4–1.0 mm is a first-generation activated glass filter media intended as a direct, plug-and-play replacement for filter sand. The finer grain size catches particles that would pass through standard sand.

The surface of each grain is electrochemically activated, so it repels biofilm and biodynamically unstable microflora – AFM media does not support the growth of bacteria or algae inside the filter bed, unlike conventional sand.

The result is permanent filtration down to a level of 1–3 micrometres with no risk of untreated water passing through. The consumption of disinfectants is reduced by 15–20 %, and the consumption of wash water during backwashing falls by 50 % compared to sand.

The service life of the media is practically identical to that of the filtration system – there is no need to plan regular replacement. The 21 kg pack is suitable for smaller filter vessels of home pools.
