Filter Media

Media for sand filter tanks - silica sand in several grain sizes, certified filter sand to EN 12904, AFM activated glass, ZeoPure Australian zeolite, Fiberbrite polyester filter beads and FiCarb B activated carbon. In-stock items ship within 48 hours, with shipping across the EU. Sand, glass, zeolite or beads Silica sand is the cheapest and most widespread medium. AFM activated glass filters more finely, clogs less with organic deposits and lasts significantly longer, so the higher purchase price pays off through a longer service life. Zeolite also captures very fine particles and the ammonia that comes from swimmers' sweat, helping to reduce the smell of chlorine. Fiberbrite filter beads are light - 700 g replaces 25 kg of sand - and are suited mainly to small above-ground pools. Activated carbon is used to remove chlorine, odours and organic substances. How to fill the media It is poured into the filter tank in layers, from the coarsest grade at the bottom to the finest on top. The coarse 1-4 mm grade protects the lower drainage laterals, and the finer 0.6-1.2 mm or 0.3-0.8 mm grade does the actual filtering. With AFM, Grade 2 (1.0-2.0 mm) goes in at the bottom and Grade 1 (0.4-1.0 mm) on top. The required quantity is given on the label of the filter tank. What to watch out for Sand is replaced roughly every three to five years, when the grains become smooth and clump together and the filter stops capturing dirt. Before pouring in the new media, cover the centre pipe so that sand cannot fall into it. You will find filter tanks in the category Filter Tanks, and complete sets with a pump in the category Filter Kit (tank + pump). Who this category is for Pool owners replacing the filter media, and service companies. The shop is run by IDOL SPAS s.r.o., a Czech hot tub manufacturer with its own service team. We offer service companies and dealers a wholesale programme with individual pricing.
