Measurement & Testing

Over 60 instruments and consumables for checking pool water – PoolLab and Primelab photometers, Meytec digital pH meters, tablet and drop testers, and probes for automatic dosing stations. We list reagents for all instruments: tablet and sachet reagents for measuring pH, free and total chlorine, active oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, cyanuric acid, total alkalinity, water hardness, phosphates, nitrates and aluminium. In-stock items ship within 48 hours, and we deliver across the EU. What to measure and how often The basics are two values: pH and disinfection. pH determines whether disinfection works at all – at a high pH chlorine loses most of its effect, however much you dose. Ideally both are checked every other day during the season. Extended parameters such as cyanuric acid, alkalinity, hardness or phosphates only need measuring a few times per season, but they are what explains the situations where the water "won't balance" with ordinary chemicals. Tester or photometer Tablet and drop testers compare the colour of the sample with a colour scale – they are inexpensive and sufficient for everyday use. A photometer measures colour optically and gives a numerical value, which removes the subjective estimate of the shade; it suits those who want to track differences properly, and larger and public pools. A digital pH meter measures with an electrode and is the fastest for repeated checks of a single value. What to watch out for Reagents are tied to a specific instrument – tablets for PoolLab, for the Aseko photometer and for Primelab are not interchangeable, even though they measure the same parameter. Watch the shelf life too: old tablets give distorted results, so buy them in a quantity for the season, not as a stock for years. Always take the sample from roughly elbow depth below the surface and away from the jets, not from the surface at the edge. Probes for automatic stations and their calibration solutions are in the Water Treatment Accessories category, and complete stations in the Dosing Stations & Controllers section. Who the category is for For every pool and hot tub owner – without measuring, dosing chemicals is guesswork – and for operators who have to document their values. The shop is run by IDOL SPAS s.r.o., a Czech hot tub manufacturer with its own service team – if you are unsure about your choice, we will advise you from experience. For service companies and resellers we offer a wholesale programme with individual prices.
