The O-ring under the cooling fan is a small rubber seal located on the shaft between the cooling element and the motor body of the ESPA Basic pump. It prevents moisture from penetrating into the sensitive internal parts of the motor and bearings.
A worn or cracked O-ring is one of the causes of water ingress into the motor section, which leads to damage to the bearings or electrical windings. Preventive replacement during every service intervention significantly extends the pump’s service life.
The original ESPA O-ring is made of NBR rubber resistant to chlorine and pool water. Its low price makes it an ideal spare for every owner of an ESPA Basic pump.
