The thermal fuse (Klixon) is a safety element built into the windings of the pump’s electric motor. When the permissible temperature is exceeded, it automatically interrupts the electrical circuit and protects the motor from thermal damage caused by dry running, blockage or an electrical fault.
After cooling down, the Klixon resets automatically and the motor can be started again. If the fuse activates repeatedly, it is a signal to investigate the cause of the overheating – a clogged pre-filter, low water level or a mechanical fault.
The original ESPA Klixon is calibrated to the correct reaction temperature for ESPA pump motors. Replacing a damaged Klixon restores the safety function of the pump for a fraction of the cost of a new unit.
