What size to choose An oval gives you an uninterrupted swimming lane – from a length of about seven metres you can really swim in it, while the shorter sizes are better for recreational bathing. A depth of 1.20 m is enough for a family with children, while 1.50 m suits adult swimmers and holds its temperature better. If you have little space in the garden or want simpler assembly, consider a round pool from the Round Pools category – the same construction and liner, just a different shape. Liner and colours The pools are supplied with a liner 0.6 or 0.8 mm thick. The thinner 0.6 mm is enough for seasonal use; choose 0.8 mm for intensive daily use and where the pool is not taken down for winter. Colours available are blue, grey, sand and marble – the shade affects the perceived colour of the water and how the pool matches your terrace. What to watch out for An above-ground pool needs a level, load-bearing surface; with oval models the side walls also spread the water pressure outwards, so the base really must be perfectly level.
