Unions

PVC unions for removable joints in pool pipework – solvent weld unions in diameters from 20 to 110 mm, unions combining a solvent weld socket with a female or male thread, and versions with a brass thread and with an O-ring seal. In-stock items ship within 48 hours, with shipping across the EU. What a union is for A union is a joint that can be loosened at any time with the union nut and tightened again without cutting the pipe. It is fitted before and after parts that will one day need to be replaced or removed for winter – the pump, filter tank, heater, heat pump or UV lamp. Replacing a pump then takes minutes. How to find the right part The marking 50 × 1 1/2″ ext. means a solvent weld socket for a 50 mm pipe and a 1 1/2″ male thread, while int. indicates a female thread. Choose the thread side according to the pump or filter port onto which you screw the union. A brass thread suits connection to metal ports, where a plastic thread could be damaged when tightened. What to watch out for The seal is provided by the sealing ring or O-ring inside the union – check on every disassembly that it is not cracked, and tighten the nut by hand, not with a wrench. Seal the thread with PTFE tape. For permanent joints use a coupling from the category Couplings & Sockets, and you will find ball valves in the category Shutoff Valves. Who this category is for For installers and pool owners who want their equipment easy to service. The shop is run by IDOL SPAS s.r.o., a Czech hot tub manufacturer with its own service team. We offer service companies and resellers a wholesale programme with individual pricing.
