How to choose the right flow rate Base your choice on pool volume: all the water should pass through filtration within 4–6 hours. For a 40 m³ pool, look for a pump with a real flow rate of 8–10 m³/h; for 60 m³, around 12–15 m³/h. Match the flow rate to your filter tank diameter — an oversized pump pushes water through the sand bed too fast and filtration loses effectiveness. Manufacturer figures apply at a specific head height, so allow a margin for losses in piping, elbows and the six-way valve. What to watch out for Before ordering a replacement, check the power supply (230 V vs. 400 V), the connection diameter (typically 50 or 63 mm), and whether the pump has a pre-filter basket for coarse debris. No pool pump may ever run dry — it destroys the mechanical seal. If a pump hums or leaks at the shaft, replacing just the seal or gasket is usually enough, and we stock both as spare parts.
