How to choose a filter tank The deciding factor is the flow rate, which must match the pump and the pool volume. For domestic tanks the range covers roughly 5 to 25 m³/h: Bilbao 350 handles 5 m³/h, Bilbao d400 and GTV 400 6 m³/h, GLV 500 and Bilbao d500 9.5 m³/h, Bilbao d600 14 m³/h, UVE d650 15 m³/h, TOP 650 16 m³/h and Artic d800 25 m³/h. The sand charge varies by series and diameter - 50 kg for GTV 400, 100 kg for GLV 500, 145 kg for TOP 650, 165 kg for TOP VF 600, 200 kg for TOP VF 700B and 445 kg for Rapidpool d800 - so allow for it, including the load-bearing capacity of the base. Hayward HCF FB tanks with a 1 m filter bed and d75 to d225 connections are intended for public facilities. Also watch the size of the six-way valve, which comes as 1 1/2" (Emaux MFS) and 2" (SMG, TOP VF). What to watch out for The most common service issue is a leaking lid. Seals are type-specific, not universal - for example, the Hayward/Kripsol HCFF47902WVA lid seal or the seal under the black lid of the Pavo II and Cygnus II are ordered by the specific series, not by diameter. On tanks with a clamp (QS), the M8 × 100 and M8 × 120 mm tightening bolts and the threaded rollers wear out, and on the SMG series the lid clamping nut.
