The UV-C TECH sterilizer 16W has a housing made of AISI 316 stainless steel and is primarily intended for private pools where salt electrolysis is not used for disinfection.
Principle of UV disinfection
Disinfection by ultraviolet radiation is among the increasingly used technologies for improving the treatment of both drinking and pool water. It consists in the photochemical damage of RNA, DNA, proteins, enzymes and other biologically significant macromolecules. Its effectiveness depends on the dose of UV radiation, the type of lamp and its arrangement relative to the water flow. Low-pressure monochromatic UV lamps emit radiation with a wavelength of 254 nm and have germicidal effects. The radiation destroys algae, parasites, mold, viruses, yeasts and bacteria in the water.
Combining UV with other technologies leads to high water quality, reduces operating costs and chemical consumption and enables safe automatic operation. However, UV radiation alone does not ensure hygienic protection (risk of secondary contamination), which is why in practice it is combined, for example, with chlorination.
