The 233 mm collector lateral is a plastic replacement part of the collector system in the SMG 900 filter tank. The longer laterals correspond to the tank’s larger cross-section and ensure even inflow of water across the entire surface of the sand filter layer without creating short-circuit channels.
A correctly completed set of collector laterals is the foundation of effective filtration – a damaged lateral causes localized flow short circuits in which water bypasses the filter media instead of being filtered through it. The result is poorer water quality and a shortened sand service life.
The part is made of UV-stable ABS plastic resistant to aggressive pool chemicals. The laterals are replaced after the sand media has been removed from the tank and the entire collector system taken out.
