Tapping saddles allow a branch from pipes of 50, 63, 75, 140, 225 and 315 mm with an internal thread of 1/2″ to 3″. Adaptors handle the transition from a glued socket to an external thread from 20–16 × 3/8″ to 125–110 × 4″, and the PUK 50 series offers outlets from 1/4″ to 1″, Pg9 and M10. What to watch out for All parts are made of rigid PVC-U and are joined either by gluing into the socket or mechanically via a thread. Before gluing, clean and degrease both the socket and the pipe end and use a pressure adhesive intended for PVC-U; seal threaded joints with PTFE tape or thread and never overtighten them, because the plastic cracks. For large dimensions from 200 mm up, give the joint longer to cure before putting the pipework under pressure. Also check whether you need an internal (int.) or external (ext.) thread – for plugs and adaptors it is the most common reason for returns.
