How to choose the right flow rate Base your choice on pool volume: all the water should pass through filtration within 4–6 hours. For a 40 m³ pool, look for a pump with a real flow rate of 8–10 m³/h; for 60 m³, around 12–15 m³/h. Match the flow rate to your filter tank diameter — an oversized pump pushes water through the sand bed too fast and filtration loses effectiveness. Manufacturer figures apply at a specific head height, so allow a margin for losses in piping, elbows and the six-way valve.
