The filter cross (collecting lateral) is the bottom distribution element in the QS 600 sand filter, which collects the filtered water from the bottom of the tank and channels it into the outlet piping. The correct function of the cross is key to the even use of the entire volume of filter sand.
The part is made of durable plastic with sufficient mechanical strength to withstand the pressure of the sand column and the water hammer during filter backwash. The slotted design prevents the penetration of sand grains into the cleaned water.
A damaged or missing filter cross causes sand to leak into the pool and uneven filtration. Replacing the cross requires disassembling the filter and emptying the sand, which is why we recommend always inspecting the part when changing the filter media.
